Understanding the individual child

I am Adam Hiller, a registered Clinical Psychologist specialising in work with children, adolescents and families.

Children and young people may experience difficulties with attention, learning, language, development, behaviour or emotional wellbeing. There may be questions about ADHD, autism or learning difficulties, or simply a sense that a child is struggling and it is not yet clear why.

My work focuses on understanding each child’s individual profile — their strengths and difficulties, the factors affecting how they are functioning, and what may help.

My previous professional background as a teacher in mainstream and international education, learning support and special educational needs brings an additional perspective to my clinical work, connecting psychological understanding with the realities of home, school and everyday life.

Assessment & Diagnosis

Psychological and psychoeducational assessment can help develop a clearer understanding of your child’s strengths, needs and individual profile.

Assessment may explore:

  • Neurodevelopment — ADHD, autism & executive functioning

  • Additional learning needs, dyslexia & specific learning disorders

  • Cognitive abilities & learning profiles

  • Language & communication

  • Emotional, behavioural & mental health difficulties

How I can help

Psychological Intervention

Psychological intervention and therapy can help children and young people understand and manage difficulties, develop new skills and make changes that improve their wellbeing and everyday functioning.

Support may address:

  • Anxiety & emotional wellbeing

  • Emotional regulation & behaviour

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Life events, loss & family change

  • Attention & executive functioning

  • Additional learning needs

  • Parent support

Intervention is tailored to the individual child or young person, with parents often actively involved in the work.
